Sisters Who Care®

Sisters Who Care (SWC) is a ministry of the Woman’s Missionary Union that aims to reach women in African American churches for cooperative missions.

Women on Mission and SWC members seek to live out missions through missions projects, ministries, prayer, giving, and Bible study. The purpose of the organization is to provide every person with the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel.

Getting Started Guide

How to Start a Sisters Who Care Group:

  • Begin With Prayer: Involve church leadership in seeking direction for starting a new group.
  • Contact WMU of Texas: Contact WMU of Texas' Sisters Who Care consultant to learn more about updates, resources, and leadership training specifically for African-American churches.
  • Determine the Focus: Women on Mission groups often focus their involvement around a feature in Missions Mosaic, such as the missionary spotlight or Bible study. Groups may also meet around a common interest.
  • Identify Leaders: Identify a group leader and others willing to lead. Provide leadership development through WMU of Texas's leadership training events.
  • Select & Order Materials: Use WMU resources to help plan missions involvement. The Missions Leader: WMU Planning Guide is an excellent resource to help you get started.
  • Promote: Invite all women to attend through personal contacts, email, social media, and other communication channels at your church.
