At WMU of Texas Border Ministries, we believe that God knows our needs and that His timing is always perfect. This was evident in 2025 during many mission trips and projects by churches, ministries, and individuals along the Texas-Mexico border.
As volunteers visited families alongside WMU of Texas Missionary Vanessa Lerma throughout the year, they often heard the same response: “You are here at the perfect time”. Many families were given meals at the exact moment they were unsure of what they would do for dinner that night.
A STORY OF NEW BEGINNINGS
One of the lives touched this year was a woman named Miriam. Miriam grew up in the church and was baptized as a teenager, a decision her mother was very proud of. Years later, after having her daughter, Alexis, Miriam started a discipleship class. Through that class, she felt convicted and realized that her childhood decision had been for her mom rather than herself.
Miriam chose to be baptized again with a true understanding of her faith. Shortly after her baptism, the church celebrated her daughter’s dedication. Today, Miriam continues to attend church faithfully with Alexis and serves on the welcoming team.
SERVING TOGETHER AT THE PARK
In 2025, we had the opportunity to serve over 3,000 people, and we celebrated as 27 people made professions of faith. One of these moments happened at a local park where we worked with three churches to distribute clothing and food bags while sharing the hope of Christ.
While there, a volunteer named Rita sat down next to Elizabeth, a girl about 12 years old. They spoke and listened to a Bible story together. Afterward, Elizabeth approached Rita and asked if she could accept Jesus into her heart. Elizabeth, who had already been attending church with her father, left the park excited to tell him about her decision to follow Jesus.
LOOKING FORWARD
We know that there are many others like Miriam, Alexis, and Elizabeth who need to hear about Jesus and build a relationship with Him. We ask you to pray for them and for those who share the message of Christ with compassion.
