“Now you will tell everyone about what you have seen and heard.” —Acts 22:15 (NIrV)
On September 20, 2025, the WMU of Texas office welcomed a very special group of visitors: children from churches across the Dallas area for Children's Missions Day. The theme verse for the day was Acts 22:15 (NIrV): “Now you will tell everyone about what you have seen and heard.”
To help bring this verse to life, we invited missionaries to share their stories and show the children how they, too, can be part of God’s mission. (Due to the dangerous locations where the missionaries serve, we cannot share their names or pictures for their safety.)
Our afternoon began with a missionary family serving in Africa, who are currently staying at Mary’s House, a WMU of Texas stateside home for missionaries. They did an outstanding job describing the daily life of a missionary family. They shared how every family member, from the youngest to the oldest, contributes to their mission. They sang songs in their own language, making learning a new language seem accessible and enjoyable. Additionally, they wore authentic clothing that showcased their culture.
Afterwards, we took some time to get to know one another better. It was heartwarming to see the little kids come out of their shells and mingle with one another. We engaged in activities that encouraged them to share their thoughts on specific topics, and two responses stood out to me:
**Who is someone you need to pray for?** “My dad’s sister and brother.”
This response was impactful because it showed that this little girl understood the importance of praying for her family members who need Jesus.
**What is a mission project you would like to do?** “Women’s Build.”
This answer melted my heart. Even at such a young age, it was clear that the children were listening. They absorb the stories shared around the church, the videos shared during the Mary Hill Davis Week of Prayer, and they genuinely want to be part of these mission opportunities.
Our second missionary, who serves in South Asia, had also just moved into Mary’s House. We appreciated her willingness to share her experiences with our children. Dressed in her cultural clothing, she introduced the children to their culture, shared witness testimonies, and explained how they can share Jesus with others right where they are.
After spending more time in fellowship, the children had the opportunity to write encouraging Gospel cards to share with someone in their lives during the upcoming week. They enjoyed composing messages, drawing pictures, and decorating their cards with stickers.
We concluded the afternoon by praying for our missionaries, laying hands on them as we lifted them up to the Lord. It was a beautiful sight to see the children praying for the missionaries.
I am grateful for the leaders who work diligently to provide children with opportunities to learn about missions; they are truly great disciple-makers! We may not fully understand the impact of a day like Children’s Missions Day on the Kingdom of God until we reach heaven. Still, I am confident that we are witnessing the emergence of many future missionaries!
