A Women-Led Home Build Ministry
A Women-Led Home Build Ministry
Since 2010, countless Women's Build volunteers have traveled to South Texas to offer hope, build relationships, and share Jesus.
The WMU of Texas Women's Build Project is a women-led home build ministry. Each year, 30 women assemble into two teams to build a home for a family participating in the Buckner Family Hope Center program.
If you're looking for an opportunity to learn how to build a home while sharing the Gospel, this is the event for you. No experience is necessary.
The 2023 Women's Build application period will open July 2023.
Volunteers participate in construction for one week, and no construction experience is necessary. Each day, the team will arrive at the job site by 6:30 am for a devotional and safety briefing with the building supervisor. The team will work until 6:30 pm each day (taking breaks as needed).
Team One: Arrives Sunday, October 16 by 7:30 pm. Leaves Friday evening, October 21.
Team Two: Arrives, Thursday, October 20. Leaves Tuesday evening, October 25.
Cost: $150 per person

Virtual Home Build Experience (2020)
For the past nine years, volunteer teams from the Woman’s Missionary Union of Texas (WMU) have traveled to the Rio Grande Valley to build homes for families participating in Buckner Family Hope Center programs.
Although we were not able to work alongside the Santiago family in 2020 due to COVID-19, we were able to arrange a “virtual” build and celebration.
What to Wear:
Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Closed-toe shoes are required. Team one will be working on insulation - long-sleeved clothing recommended.
Meals provided:
We will provide water, snacks, and lunch on-site each day. Breakfast and dinner will be provided at the lodging location.
On-site bathroom facilities:
We will have a portable toilet and handwashing station on site.
Previous experience needed?
No experience is required. A building supervisor and experienced Women's Build volunteers will be on-site to guide you.
Not comfortable using power tools:
There will be other tasks for you to do. Safety is our number one priority. Please do not do something you're not comfortable doing.
The house is not the reason we go to build. We go because of our love for God and our love for our neighbors. We go as storytellers of God’s grace in our own lives and how Jesus makes all the difference. We go as disciples who want to make disciples. We are in need of your prayers.
