My Responsibility, Now

Heaven or hell. Everyone will spend eternity somewhere.

In 1925 Mary Hill Davis was speaking in Mineral Wells and said this, “It is not your church, nor your Convention, nor your Board that issues the summons to the Missionary task to you, but Jesus Christ Himself who said, ‘Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature,’ and ‘Go ye, therefore, and make disciples of all nations.”

This is part of our theme verse for this year’s emphasis for the Mary Hill Davis Offering® for Texas Missions (MHDO). Mary Hill Davis reminds us to do our part in helping people know where they will spend eternity.

As you have learned about some of the ministries receiving funds from the MHDO, I pray that the needs have resonated with you and you can see the impact for Texans. Approximately 38 requests out of the 85 requests for this year are totally dependent on the MHDO for funding. The others depend on the MHDO to complete their funding. It’s crucial that we join together to PRAY, GIVE, and DO what we can to help reach the $3.5 million goal this year. Our state is growing in all directions. Changes are coming at an alarming rate. There is an urgency for Christians to renew our commitment to the Lord to live out the Christian calling as we go, now more than ever.

The MHDO enables many to serve in specific places and meet specific needs, in Jesus’ name. The 85 requests are divided into four categories, SALT:

  1. Serve Ministries: these open the door for more effective sharing of the gospel.

  2. Advance Missions Leadership: these equip both clergy and laity as they share the gospel and serve others.

  3. Love the Least of These: these seek to serve those who are too often overlooked such as special needs adults, victims of human trafficking, single parents, men needing employment/life skills, and people living in poverty.

  4. Tell Ministries: these enable Texas Baptists to be a witness by sharing God’s story of Salvation through Jesus Christ.

The call is now for all Texas Baptists to join together. I Am Texas Missions! What will you do? How will you help the lost to know Christ so they can spend eternity in heaven with Him? THANK YOU for what you will do to support the MHDO!
