Devotional: What do we do now?

by Earl Ann Bumpus on January 19, 2021 in Blog

With all that is going around in our world right now, I cannot help but think, “What do we do now?” We have heavy hearts for many different reasons…family members and friends who have suffered and died from Covid-19 and other diseases; our country is torn apart through division and distrust, and people are suffering all over the world for various reasons. It does not make sense to us. But we know that the Lord is still in control! We can trust Him!

Sometimes words escape me. There are many scriptures that we can hang on to when facing difficult times. Here are some scriptures you may find comforting, encouraging, and hopeful. I pray that you may find comfort in these scriptures. You may want to comment below by adding a verse where you find God’s comfort during these times.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." -Lamentations 3:22-23

“I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” -Psalm 91:2

“He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” -Psalm 91:4

“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will never be shaken.” -Psalm 62:1-2

“Trust in him at all time, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” -Psalm 62:8

“Keep on loving each other as brothers.” -Hebrews 13:1

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” -1 Peter 5:7
